Technical Background
As a commonly used measurement device, thermocouples can directly measure the temperatures of vaporization furnaces, sulfurization furnaces, and similar equipment. However, the conventional thermocouple sheath is prone to cracking under the impact of rapid temperature changes—both sudden heating and cooling—which may allow corrosive and reducing gases to penetrate the thermocouple interior, leading to poisoning, corrosion, and damage of the precious-metal thermocouple elements and significantly shortening its service life.

A high-temperature, corrosion-resistant thermocouple comprising a junction box structure, an insulating protective casing, and a thermocouple wire assembly.
The thermocouple wire structure comprises a precious-metal thermocouple wire and an atomic-level protective film sputter-deposited onto the surface of the precious-metal thermocouple wire. Both the high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance of the atomic-level protective film are superior to those of the precious-metal thermocouple wire.
The aforementioned high-temperature corrosion-resistant thermocouple features a protective film at the atomic level, which exhibits superior high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance compared to noble-metal thermocouple wires. As a result, the thermocouple wire structure maintains relatively stable performance even in oxidizing, reducing, or acidic/alkaline atmospheres. During use, even if acidic or reducing gases enter the insulating protective casing, the thermocouple wire structure is unlikely to suffer from poisoning or corrosion damage, thereby effectively extending the service life of the high-temperature corrosion-resistant thermocouple. Moreover, since the atomic-level protective film is deposited onto the noble-metal thermocouple wire via sputtering, it exhibits strong interpenetration with the noble-metal wire itself, resulting in an exceptionally robust bond. Consequently, even after prolonged use, the atomic-level protective film remains firmly attached to the noble-metal thermocouple wire, further enhancing the thermocouple's service life.
